The South Eastern Hotel’s Speed Shear Competition is back for 2025, and it’s shaping up to be another ripper of a day in Mount Gambier. After the wool-slinging madness of 2023 and 2024, we’re bringing the heat once again – with shearers from across Australia and New Zealand going head-to-head in a high-speed, high-skill showdown.

In previous years, more than 50 shearers have taken part in Open and Intermediate divisions, competing on stage in the front bar of the South Eastern. With over $10,000 in prize money up for grabs – thanks to generous local businesses and partners – it’s a thrilling contest where the fastest hands take the win, and the crowd gets a front-row seat to the action.

Expect impressive shearer skill, country hospitality, and a front bar buzzing with atmosphere.
