About
Enjoy the rich variety of plant life found in native bush land in the heart of the Green Triangle Forest district, just a short drive from the city of Mount Gambier.
ForestrySA has established three forest trails, providing a unique opportunity to view rare plants and wildflowers in a natural bush setting, 16km from Mount Gambier.
The trails are set within the heart of the native forest reserve near the rural township of Glencoe and range in length from 2.7km to 5.7km.
They are designed for walkers and cyclists, and are clearly marked to ensure easy navigation in and out of the reserve.
The trails are home to a diverse range of plants and wildflowers and provide the perfect opportunity for people of all ages to explore the local forest environment.
The trails are named after the Honan Mint (Mentha atrolilacina), a small creeping herb which grows up to 30cm tall and has deep purple flowers and overlapping, heart-shaped leaves.
The mint was discovered near the trail site in 2007 and is found only within a 20km radius of the area.
For safety reasons, the forest is closed to the public on declared Total Fire Ban days.
