Naracoorte Heritage Trail

About

Discover Naracoorte’s Stories

Take a stroll through Naracoorte and uncover the rich history that has shaped the town since its early settlement.

There are 18 heritage sites to explore in and around the Naracoorte Town Centre. Ten of these are located around the Town Square, where interpretive markers highlight key points of historical significance. These markers tell the story of how Naracoorte was established, why it was chosen as a settlement site, and how it has grown and evolved over the past 150 years.

Markers tell the story of Naracoortes first building – The Caledonian Inn, along with the Naracoorte Hotel, W.T. Gore’s House Site, the Naracoorte Lucindale Council Office (Windera), Kincraig Hotel and ‘Under-The-Verandahs’, Church Hill, Aitcheson Grieve’s Blacksmith Shop, the Rivoli Picture Theatre, the ANZ Bank, and the Town Squares.

The Heritage Trail also complements the paved Walk of Honour surrounding the Naracoorte War Memorial — a lasting tribute to members of the Naracoorte district who served their country.
