The Post & Rail is an immersive cooking, gardening and art school housed within Penola’s heritage-listed former Cobb & Co building, beside the iconic Petticoat Lane precinct and close to the Mary MacKillop Penola Centre. Its beautiful stone buildings and rich history provide a memorable setting in which to learn, create, connect and unwind.

Owned and operated by cook, author, gardener and artist Cindy Bunt, The Post & Rail offers a varied calendar of welcoming, hands-on classes throughout the year. Cindy is passionate about sharing practical skills and helping complete beginners discover the confidence and joy that comes from making something themselves.

Cooking experiences range from sourdough baking, fresh pasta, cheese and butter making to generous international feast classes inspired by cuisines from around the world. Gardening workshops draw upon Cindy’s many years of horticultural experience, while relaxed art classes show guests that painting is a skill that can be learnt and enjoyed at any age.

Classes are warm, generous and immersive, with homemade food and time around the shared table forming an important part of the experience. They are ideal for locals, visitors, private groups and anyone seeking something creative and memorable to do in the Limestone Coast.
