About

The Post & Rail is housed in Penola’s heritage-listed former Cobb & Co building, beside the iconic Petticoat Lane precinct and close to the Mary MacKillop Penola Centre. Its beautiful stone buildings and rich history create a memorable setting in which to eat, shop, learn and unwind.

Owned and operated by cook, author, gardener and artist Cindy Bunt, The Post & Rail is known for its warm, homely atmosphere and dedication to making food from scratch. Guests can enjoy freshly baked scones with Devonshire tea, seasonal café dishes and hearty favourites such as the much-loved Manwich.

The adjoining providore is filled with preserves made onsite, including jams, chutneys, pickles and sauces, alongside Cindy’s cookbooks, including Fall in Love with Baking.

Throughout the year, The Post & Rail hosts hands-on cooking and creative workshops. Experiences range from sourdough baking and fresh pasta to international feast classes and relaxed art workshops. Classes are designed to be welcoming, generous and immersive, making them ideal for food lovers and creative souls looking for something memorable to do in the Limestone Coast.

The Post & Rail is open Thursday to Sunday from 10am to 3pm. Workshop dates and bookings are available at thepostandrail.com.au.
